Prayer Thoughts for the Heart


Careful we should be when it comes to what we allow to come out of our mouth. All of our speech should be filtered through a godly heart that is filled with godly wisdom.

It is very unusual for someone, who is a motor mouth, not end up saying something stupid, hurtful, or gossipy. It will take some of our time to use filtered words, because we must first learn how to think before speak.

We should never hide unfiltered words in cloaks of laughter, or jokes, or flattery. If we think this is a good way to say something that we really should not say, it is wrong. Getting your point across this way is definitely not what God would approve of.

The words that we speak can never be taken back, no matter whether good ones or bad ones. We can offer apologies, but the words are still somewhere out there and they have taken away someone’s joy, if they were bad words. But, the worse part of saying them, has given you a reputation. What kind of reputation, you make the call?

Speaking from a godly heart that is filled with godly wisdom will give us a new language, and one that we can be proud of and one that will be pleasing to God.

A good idea is to sow seeds of kindness, mercy, joy, wisdom, understanding, peace, truth, and the fear of God into our heart and then share them with others. But we can’t share these qualities until we sow these seeds in our heart. We can’t harvest something we haven’t planted.

The following is some godly wisdom for everyone who will come and drink of it and then let it become your teacher.

“The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips” (Proverbs 16:23).

“Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom” (Proverbs 13:10).

“The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable” (Proverbs 10:32).

“Whoso keepeth is mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from trouble”
(Proverbs 21:23).

“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver and gold”
(Proverbs 22:1).

“Do not say, I’ll pay you back for this wrong! Wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you” (Proverbs 20:22).

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1).

“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful” (Proverbs 12:22).

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30).

“A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret” (Proverbs 11:13).
