Jesus, a Stone Most Precious
God must have liked stones as He sure created a lot of them. He made smooth stones, rough stones, tiny stones, gigantic stones and all sizes in between.
God made beautiful stones, precious stones, semi-precious stones, and stones that are the same as the many colors in the rainbow.
Scripture records some very meaningful stories about how stones were used in everyday life. We still use them today in some of the same ways.
Many times the word (stone) was used in making an important point and it helped a per son more likely to remember the wisdom connected to the story.
Stones were used as a weapon in war and we all remember how David killed a giant with one small smooth stone in a sling shot. In Biblical times and also today, we build memorials out of beautiful marble. They are reminders of dates, people, and significant circumstances.
God told Joshua to have 12 men to take 12 stones out of the Jordan River and build a memorial on the other side of the river. This was to remind the people and later generations how God had stopped the flow of the water so everyone could pass over to the other side.
Twelve precious stones were on the priest’s ephod and breastplate and the names of the twelve tribes were engraved on the twelve precious stones. < /SPAN>The priest was to wear these two items, when in the tabernacle ministering before the Lord.
The Holy City, the New Jerusalem will have walls with many precious stone as well as pure gold. They are Jasper, Sapphire, Chalcedony, Emerald, Topaz, Amethyst, and six other different stones. The gates will be made of pearl.
Jesus is referred to as the Chief Cornerstone and the Rock of our Salvation. There is nothing more beautiful than a flawless diamond. Jesus, our Savior and Lord is flawless and a Precious Stone. Peter calls the Believers Lively Stones.
Praise God for the hope we have in the Foundation Stone, the Living Stone, the Chosen Stone, the Sure Stone, the Tried Stone,=2 0and the Elect Stone, Jesus Christ.
“… Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone” (Ephesians 2:20).
