Apply, Apply, Apply
The word Apply means to put to a practical or a specific use. We have to learn to Apply knowledge and wisdom to our problems, so we can solve them. But we can only Apply what we have stored up in our mind and heart.
The Psalms remind us that we should Apply our hearts to wisdom and we must seek it diligently as it doesn’t automatically come to us. When we understand this and know that it is a treasure that the Lord gives out of His mouth and it is laid up for the righteous, then it is ours for the taking.
We are also to cry out for His knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, as well as seeking it as eagerly as we would seek silver and gold.
Receiving the goodness of God starts when we learn the fear of God, which is when we develop a deep reverence for Him. Reverence means we will have a deep respect and a thankful heart towards Him. The fear of God, according to scripture, is the beginning of wisdom.
Our attitude will be one of deep awesomeness as we will want to praise and worship Him for His worthiness, faithfulness and holy love.
True wisdom is taught by God because it is in His Word and it means to justify God and not ourselves. To justify God is for us to agree with Him about who He says He is and that His Word is truth.
The wise person will Apply his heart to godly understanding and wisdom, and knows that it is on ongoing process. We will definitely have to spend time in the Scriptures so to build our knowledge, line upon line and precept upon precept.
The scriptures have some things to say about a person who thinks they are wise and don’t need godly wisdom. This is self-conceit, self-importance, and self-exaltation. Overestimation of self can close the door to godly wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, which teaches us a true picture of how we are to see ourselves.
Our friends and family and strangers are watching when we least expect it and what they see will impress them in some way. Will it be in a wise way or ………………..?
Be diligent about learning and then storing godly wisdom in your heart because only then will you have the knowledge of knowing what to Apply, and how to Apply it, and then be quick to Apply it when it is needed.
“Pay attention and listen to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips” (Proverbs 22:17-18 NIV).
