Isaiah prophesied the birth of Jesus Christ, about 700 years before it actually happened.
The New Testament reminds us that Jesus is the hope of the world, and will rule and reign on the earth some day.

The meaning of these two words WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, in this verse is UNIQUE, and very meaningful to every Christian. It will be an EVERLASTING KINGDOM and full of JUSTICE. MIGHTY GOD means: The all sufficient One. PRINCE OF PEACE means: In God’s Everlasting Kingdom there will be no wars or rumors of war.

Handel wrote THE MESSIAH and it is one of the most beautiful choruses in the world and it will be sung many times during the Christmas Season. He took the words from the Book of Isaiah.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6 NIV).




Some thoughts to ponder: Are you walking in the dark or in the light, walking by sight or by faith, walking in pride or humility, walking in your new nature or in your carnal nature?

Are you walking in praise and worship or grumbling and pleasing Satan, walking with Jesus or with the world, leaning on Jesus or winging it by yourself, taking a stand against evil or unconcerned about it?

Are you walking in the joy of the Lord or in your sadness, confessing your sins or enjoying them, keeping a calm spirit or a firecracker spirit, being in prayer each day or letting other things take all you time?

Ask God to help you walk a life that is transforming you to be more like Jesus and not one conforming you to be more like the world?

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2 NIV).
