The Eyes Have It
The eyes are one of our five senses. They are delicate beyond belief and beautiful in many colors, brown, green and blue. They are treasured by everyone and God’s gift. In the Scriptures the eye is spoken of in many different ways.
After 42 chapters, Job finally tells God that He had heard of Him, but now he says that my eyes have seen you. I understand your greatness, wisdom, and mercy. I can now see myself for what I am before a holy God. I stand here before God in reverence with a changed attitude and I repent of my sins from the bottom of my heart.
It is wonderful when God opens our eyes to see Him and all His goodness, love, and mercy.
Scripture speaks of the evil eye and I am sure some of us have experience someone giving us the evil eye. Hopefully, at one time or another we have seen the generous eyes of others. Eyes that we can just see in them love, compassion, caring, and a desire to help in some way.
Scripture tells us that a person’s eyes that are full of pride are headed for a fall. We need to cultivate our eyes to show fullness of humility.
Our eyes are for seeing a need someone has and meeting it. Our eyes are for reading God’s precious Word and seeing that we remember to pu t it into practice. Did you speak to God today, asking for His wisdom to deal rightly with your problems? Also, giving Him praise and thanksgiving for all the other things you asked for today.
Every eye shall someday behold Him when He returns, and the eye has not seen nor ear heard what God has prepared for all of us who love Him.
Creation Reveals God to Us
God’s beautiful heavens, deep blue skies, warm sunlight, romantic moonlight, fluffy clouds that produces refreshing rain, and diamond like twinkling stars that are forever doing their appointed purpose.
God has also given us a beautiful earth. Everything green, things to eat, trees for shade and fruit, and lovely flowers. We also can marvel at rippling streams, lazy rivers, and mighty oceans that give us plenty of sea food.
As we continue thinking how God has revealed Himself to us, we can look at the mountains great and small, the lovely and inviting green and grassy meadows, dotted with wild flowers.
Next, just think about all the different beautiful birds, as well as the not so beautiful. It is hard to even begin to think about naming all the different kinds of animals or insects.
We are all amazed when we see the rainbow when God sets in the sky after a shower of rain.
Whether we know it or think about it, everything we see declares God’s existence and confirms to us that He is Creator God. The earth displays the great wisdom and knowledge of God and all creation didn’t come about by a big bang.
“The HEAVENS declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands” (Psalms 19:1 NIV).
“Since earliest times men have seen the earth and sky and all God made, and have kn own of his existence and great eternal power. So they will have no excuse (When they stand before God at Judgment Day)” (Romans 1:20 LB)
The Word GIVE!
I believe that one of the most exciting, humbling, and most encompassing words in all of Scripture is the word GIVE. The word is also in all other areas of our life whether spiritual or secular.
The first time the word GIVE is recorded in Scripture is when God said, I GIVE to you heaven and earth. He continues to go on and on as He tells us what He planned to GIVE to us.
All of our life is about learning to GIVE. We are to GIVE to others and GIVE back to God.
GIVE, GIVE, GIVE. GIVE thanks for what we have and share with the needy. Everyone is needy in some way and everyone has something to GIVE.
We are to GIVE time to the study of God’s Word, and GIVE prayers to God asking for His help.
We should GIVE our family some of our time, our love, and our help. We can be selfish with our time, but we are to be careful to give of ourselves. Time cost nothing, but it is worth a million dollars to others.
We can GIVE out hugs and our sympathy when needed. GIVE a kind word, or share our understanding and appreciation. GIVE our hope and a listening ear.
A few things we should not GIVE is, a hard time, a not so nice piece of our mind, not even just one dirty word, a cold shoulder, a half truth, a haughty look, or a discouraging word.
Think on these ways to GIVE to others in a nice, helpful, and positive way: GIVE away, GIVE out, GIVE up, GIVE off, GIVE to, GIVE in, GIVE over, GIVE back and GIVE and take.
GIVE a sweet smile, GIVE a thumbs up, GIVE a pat on the back, GIVE a courtesy when driving your car, but the most important thing of all to GIVE is:
In your heart set apart Christ as Lord and always be ready to GIVE an answer to everyone who asks you to GIVE the reason for the hope that you have.
